If I live in Jefferson County, why do I have to get eye examinations and prescriptions at Cooper Green Hospital?
Alabama Lions Sight does not cover eye examinations and prescriptions for Jefferson County residents because those residents can get those services for a nominal fee at Cooper Green Hospital. We will, however, pay for your glasses once you receive a prescription from Cooper Green.
How long does it take to get glasses once they are prescribed?
The normal turnaround time for getting your glasses will be a minimum of 2-4 weeks. If you live in Jefferson County, WE WILL CALL YOU as soon as your glasses have arrived. If your telephone number has been disconnected or changed, it is your responsibility to report the change to our office. We CAN NOT contact you if you do not have a working number. If you live outside of Jefferson County, we will mail your glasses to you as soon as they arrive at the office. If you have a change of address, PLEASE NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY, so we can ensure that you receive your glasses. It is very costly for us to mail glasses to an incorrect address.
Can I get more than one pair of glasses in a year's time?
Our policy is that you can only receive ONE PAIR of glasses per year. Exceptions to this case would be if you have a drastic change in your prescription or if your doctor has written you a bad prescription. Unless your glasses are broken when you receive them, WE WILL NOT FIX broken glasses. Please take good care of your glasses to ensure that they will last until the following year.
